This page isn’t an attack on Podium’s product — it’s a bigger platform than ours and it does more. It’s about two different ways of selling software, and which one you want to be on the receiving end of.
Podium is a reputation and messaging platform. Reviews, two-way texting, web chat, payments, AI features — all in one place, across multiple locations, with reporting on top. For the right business that bundle is genuinely worth money.
Pick Podium if: you run more than one location, you have an office person whose actual job includes working the inbox and chasing reviews, review volume is the thing you’re trying to move, and a platform that touches your whole front end is something you have the time to learn.
If that’s you, Podium is probably the better buy and we’re not going to pretend otherwise. Keep reading only if it isn’t.
It’s what happens between “this looks useful” and “I’m using it.”
Podium doesn’t publish a price. To find out what it costs, you fill in a form and wait for a sales call, and what you’re quoted depends on the conversation. Third-party pricing trackers and customer reviews report figures that vary widely by what gets bundled in. We can’t tell you your number, and neither can anyone else.
Reviewers on the independent software review sites also return to the same handful of themes often enough that it’s worth knowing about before you start: pressure to upgrade after signing, difficulty getting cancelled, invoices that didn’t match expectations, and paying for parts of the platform that never got used. Those are other people’s experiences and yours may be completely different — but they’re the specific risks of buying this way, and you should know they exist.
One practical thing to ask about if you do take the call: whether missed-call texts count against a monthly message allowance, and what the overage costs. We don’t know the answer — Podium doesn’t publish it. But it’s the right question, because if the answer turns out to be yes, then the feature you came for is the one with the meter on it, and that’s better to find out before than after.

Everything in the Podium column is either the absence of a published fact (no public pricing) or a summary of what customers report in public reviews. Verify your own terms with Podium before you sign anything — including with us.
A lot, and it’s worth being specific rather than vague about it. No review generation or review management. No web chat widget. No payments. No multi-location support. No marketing campaigns. No AI chat agent. No reporting suite.
First Call catches a call you couldn’t answer, texts the person back in 18 seconds, and puts their reply in an inbox that holds nothing but new jobs, with a status on each one so nobody gets forgotten. That is the whole product. If you need the platform, buy the platform.
Podium is a bigger product and for a multi-location business with office staff it may well be worth several hundred a month. But a solo contractor or a two-truck shop is the worst possible buyer for an enterprise sales process: you’re the one with the least time to sit on a demo, the least leverage on price, and the least time to spend unwinding it from a job site if it turns out not to fit.
You don’t need a quote to try First Call. You need fourteen days and your own missed calls.
Podium does not publish pricing, so no price on this page is quoted from Podium. No price range is given either: third-party trackers report figures that vary widely, and only Podium can quote yours. Characterisations of upselling, billing and cancellation are summaries of published customer reviews on independent software review sites; they are other people’s experiences, not ours, and your experience may differ. First Call is a vendor and this is a comparison page on our own site. If you believe anything here is unfair or out of date, email support@getfirstcall.app and we’ll look at it.
14 days free. The price is on the pricing page. Cancel in about thirty seconds from Settings.
